Philosophy
Making Wine in Harmony with the Earth |
In our family enterprise, we tend 14 hectares of vineyards.
We do everything ourselves, from growing and cultivating the vines to creating the wines and delivering them to our customers.
The micro climate of our different vineyards allows us to grow a large assortment of different vines. |
This enables us to produce the white wines Riesling, Silvaner, different Pinots, Müller-Thurgau, Scheurebe, Huxelrebe, Kerner, Gewürztraminer, and Johanniter; as well as the red wines red Pinot, Regent, Dornfelder, St. Laurent, and Portugieser. |
Starting in early spring, we lay the ground work for a good harvest by carefully cutting the vines. In the summer, we retest selected vineyards. Choosing the ideal time to harvest and gently pressing the grapes yields a high quality must.
The slow and even fermenting process in small stainless steel tanks helps the wines develop their individual, fruity note. After fermentation, the wines mature in wooden barrels typic for the varietal.
Several hand-picked wines made from Dornfelder, Regent, and Riesling grapes ripen in small oak barrels [barrique barrels] for several months. The ensuing aging process in the wine bottles fulfills an important part in the Häußling quality philosophy.
